Turritella is SBM Offshore's second-generation vessel and the first FPSO in the Gulf of Mexico. Its total fluid handling capacity is designed for 60,000 barrels per day, with natural gas processing and export capacity of 15 million cubic feet per day. The hull can store 800,000 barrels per day, with a topsides total weight exceeding 7,000 tons.
SBM Offshore collaborated closely with Shell to develop the world's largest disconnectable buoy (buoyancy turret mooring system) for Stones, equipped with several new components to safely operate in the unpredictable weather of the Gulf of Mexico.
